Commissioner Christina Romelus has been selected into 2019-20 Leadership Engage Program, a flagship program for Leadership Palm Beach County (LPBC). LPBC unites leaders to improve Palm Beach County and deepens their civic commitment and awareness of diverse issues and industries.
This highly competitive 10-month program offers participants a powerful new network and a transformative learning experience, with the intent to better Palm Beach County. Only 56 were selected for this esteemed program based on their leadership and service in both their professional and civic lives.
Commissioner Romelus will join other professionals, with diverse industries and backgrounds, to gain a deeper understanding of their own leadership styles and learn ways in which they can make significant improvements in the community. As a group, they will meet for one full-day each month from September to May and travel on a bus to all areas of the county, exploring program topics such as agriculture, education, public safety, and healthcare. Classmates will also form smaller groups to accomplish community engagement projects, benefiting local non-profits and aimed at tackling challenges facing the region.
District III elected Commissioner Romelus to the Boynton Beach City Commission on March 15, 2016 and the City Commission appointed her as Vice Mayor for a one year term. In her first year on the City Commission, she was nominated and appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to the Palm Beach County Tourist Development Council to serve the residents of Palm Beach County.
Commissioner Romelus has been an Adjunct Instructor at Palm Beach State College since 2014 teaching Anatomy and Physiology. Prior to this position, Commissioner Romelus has served her community as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) since 2006. Alongside her husband, Darren, Commissioner Romelus established Sky Administrations, LLC in 2012, a visual marketing and consulting firm based in Boynton Beach, Florida. Commissioner Romelus attended South Tech Academy in Boynton Beach, where she obtained her LPN certification. She is a proud alumnus of the University of Miami (Go Canes!). She also holds a Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University. Commissioner Romelus is an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity.
